Free Episode 2, Build37 and the Steam release

Free Episode 2 is available through sgthale’s official release post. Its attachments are labelled Build37. The developer recommends DX12, with DX11 for very old computers; the Steam edition is scheduled for Q1 2027.

Use the developer’s Episode 2 post

Open the official Episode 2 release and use its attachments. The developer’s October announcement made Episode 2 free and described Episode 3 as its continuation with additional features and bug fixes.

The filenames identify FamilyTime_Patreon-DX11-Build37.zip and FamilyTime_Patreon-DX12-Build37.zip. Choose the developer’s DX12 recommendation first; the release note offers DX11 for very old computers. This is a renderer choice, not evidence that one edition contains a different care tutorial.

Keep the three releases separate

ReleaseWhat it means for these guides
Free Episode 2 / Build37The tutorial and guidebook covered here
Episode 3A later continuation; its additions are outside the Episode 2 instructions
Steam editionScheduled for Q1 2027; not a promise that every pre-alpha control will remain unchanged

The public Episode 3 page lists a Mac b108 attachment alongside Windows builds. Do not interpret the Windows-oriented free Build37 files as proof that every Family Time release is Windows-only.

Why older water advice may differ

The Episode 2 notes include drinking-behavior fixes, a change to the well’s appearance, sleeping-command fixes and a tutorial improvement. These explain why a dated development clip and the free build can look different.

A developer fix note does not prove that every later player has no problem. The care guide separates the documented drinking instruction from unresolved water reports, without inventing a cure.

Go from the release to a useful task

After opening Episode 2, use Esc for its pause book. Start with food and water, then connect planks and pup commands through building and shelter. Save/load and other contextual inputs are in the controls reference.
