Pup commands: follow, carry and build

Use F for follow/unfollow and hold F on the floor for a go-to order. E is contextual: target a material for pickup, a blue plan for construction, or an animal for attack.

Bring pups to the task

The tutorial gives F for follow and unfollow. Holding F on the floor issues a go-to command. A tap and a hold serve different tasks, so decide whether you want company or a destination before using the input.

Keep the current job small: bring pups to the material or plan you intend to use before issuing the next contextual order.

Command pickup

Press E on the object you want carried. The guidebook names stones, logs and animals as things pups can carry; the building tutorial separately demonstrates pickup with a plank.

Pickup is its own order. Decide what the pup should carry before choosing a destination.

The tutorial also lists E for commanded drop-off. The hauling route connects pickup, moving the carrier and choosing between loose delivery and construction.

Change from carrying to building

A pickup order alone does not specify construction. With a pup carrying planks, target the blue preview and press E to give the construction order. See the Blueprint steps to mark that target and the Mallet route to finish it yourself.

Recognize the attack context

The tutorial demonstrates E on chickens as a manual attack command. The guidebook warns about certain animals; a command input does not make every target safe.

The red marker belongs to the guidebook’s attack example, unlike the pickup example’s blue marker.

To turn the attack into a meal, follow chicken hunting and feeding through the food and stopped-order checks.

Stop work for food

The care page explicitly instructs you to stop commands so pups can eat nearby food. If the job continues, adding more food is not a substitute for letting them stop.

F toggles the follow order. For other work commands, consult the pause book’s Commands page rather than assuming follow/unfollow cancels every possible job. Then check the food and thirst counters before assigning the next task.

A pup described as locked needs a different state action: the developer says to right-click that pup to unlock it. Follow/unfollow and unlocking are separate instructions.
